OUTREACH at Temple Beth Israel
Rabbi Eric Yoffe, President of the UAHC, in a recent article on the subject of Outreach, wrote, "There is no greater joy than sharing with others the power and the beauty of our sacred tradition".
Temple Beth Israel is committed to and actively pursues an Outreach program. Its agenda is developed and carried forward by the Outreach Committee in association with Rabbi Katz who has a great deal of hands-on experience in the programs of Outreach including counseling people potentially involved in interfaith marriage and/or conversion to Judaism.
The Temple's policy sanctions non-Jews' participation in most aspects of Temple life including committee work, religious services and life cycle events. It encourages taking part in education programs by those who wish to learn about Judaism, its history and ritual practices and it initiates and encourages its members to actively participate in interfaith activities. Special emphasis is given to the techniques of "grandparenting" in interfaith marriages.
The Congregation's commitment to Outreach is reconfirmed annually by the dedication of a special Shabbat Service to its program and mission.
For further information, call, write or email the Temple office for referral to a member of the Outreach Committee or the Rabbi.
